Public transport to the UCI Cycling World Championships

 
Glasgow and Scotland is hosting the UCI Cycling World Championships until 13th August 2023.

13 World Championships will take place in Glasgow and across Scotland.  Events include BMX, Gran Fondo, Indoor cycling, Mountain Bike, Para-cycling, Road races, Track and Trials.

During the Championships, local roads and public transport will be busier than usual. Please plan ahead and think carefully about your travel options.

On certain days, there will be significant changes to local bus and coach services due to road closures. Please see our dedicated public transport alterations page for details.

BMX Freestyle Park (5-7 August), BMX Freestyle Flatland (8-10 August), Trials (9-12 August)

These events take place at Glasgow Green.

BMX Racing (6-9 August, 12-13 August)

The BMX Racing will take place at Glasgow BMX Centre, Knightswood Park, Glasgow.

Gran Fondo (4 August, 7 August)

The Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo road races are taking place on Friday 4 August in Perth & Kinross.

On Monday 7 August, the Gran Fondo Individual Time Trials will be taking place in Dundee and Angus.

Indoor Cycling (11-13 August)

The Indoor Cycling events take place at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow.

Mountain Bike Cross-country (8-12 August) and Cross-country Marathon (6 August)

The MTB Cross-country events take place outside Glasgow at Glentress Forest, Scottish Borders.

Mountain Bike Downhill (3-5 August)

The MTB Downhill events take place outside Glasgow at Nevis Range Mountain Resort near Fort William.

In addition to public transport options, Park & Ride shuttle buses will operate Fort William town centre and Nevis Range, Blar Mhor carpark and Nevis Range, and Spean Bridge and Nevis Range.

Para-Cycling Track (3-8 August), Track Cycling (3-9 August)

These track events take place at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Glasgow.

Road Races and Para-Cycling Road Races

The Road Cycling events include Elite Road Racing, Individual Time Trials and Mixed Team Time Trial Relays.

These events will take place on various dates throughout the Championships at a range of venues - including roads between Edinburgh and Glasgow, Glasgow city centre streets, Stirling roads, and Dumfries & Galloway roads.

To allow road race events to take place, a number of roads will be closed. Local bus and coach service diversions will be in place on these dates.  More information.
