The UK and Scottish governments are working to help people stuck abroad return home following the Coronavirus outbreak.
If you are arriving back in the UK by air and looking for domestic flights or public transport information within the UK, the following information and links may help you find travel options back to Scotland.
Please note: We can only offer domestic travel options within the UK and journeys home to Scotland. For information on flights back to the UK, please see the travel advice pages for your country on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website.
As a public transport information service, we are not able to answer any general enquiries on tourism, accommodation or travelling by car.
From 8th June, people entering or returning to the UK will:
- need to provide their journey and contact details online here before they travel,
- need to 'self-isolate' at the place they staying for their first 14 days in the UK (except in very limited circumstances).
If you are planning to arrive back in the UK on or after 8th June, please visit the UK Government website at gov.uk/uk-border-control.
Travel to Scotland
Please note that domestic flight options to Scotland are very limited, and national rail options are also operating to significantly reduced timetables.
Flights to Scotland
The only domestic flight options between England and Scotland are currently from London Heathrow.
British Airways is operating one flight most days from London Heathrow to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports.
Rail travel to Scotland
From Heathrow Airport, rail and Underground services operate to Central London stations allowing onward connections to Scotland.
You can plan your journey to Central London using the Transport for London website.
Avanti West Coast is operating a reduced service (approx. hourly) from London Euston to Glasgow Central.
Bookings are strongly recommended as a limited number of seats on trains are available due to social distancing guidelines.
LNER is operating a reduced service (approx. hourly) from London King's Cross to Edinburgh Waverley.

Seat reservations are now compulsory and must be booked in advance. More information.
Caledonian Sleeper is operating reduced overnight services between London Euston and Glasgow Central, Edinburgh Waverley and Inverness.
From Manchester Airport, national rail services operate from the airport train station to Manchester Picadilly for onward travel to Scotland.
To find rail-only options for travel to Scotland from other parts of the UK, you can also use National Rail Enquiries to search all operators' services.
For rail travel within Scotland, you can use the Traveline Scotland journey planner to find onward connections using ScotRail services.
Coach travel to Scotland
National Express services across the UK and Megabus services outside Scotland have been cancelled.
There are currently no cross-border coach services operating between England and Scotland.
National Express coach services are expected to resume from 1st July 2020. More information.
Travel within Scotland
To find public transport options within Scotland, you can use the Traveline Scotland journey planner which is being regularly updated.
When using the planner, please click or touch on any red warning icons shown to see the latest details of any changes to journeys.

Arriving at Scottish airports
Passengers are advised to travel from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports to city centres, where onward public transport options are available.
- At Glasgow Airport, the First Glasgow Express 500 bus service is operating to the city centre on a reduced basis according to flight arrival times. View the latest timetable on the operator's website.
- At Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh Trams are running a reduced timetable to and from the city centre, with Lothian Buses Airlink 100 bus service also operating. Other scheduled bus services (including Scottish Citylink AIR, Stagecoach 747, First Scotland East 600 and Xplore Dundee X90) have been suspended or are not serving the airport until further notice.
- At Aberdeen Airport, Stagecoach Bluebird JET 727 is operating to a reduced timetable to and from the city centre. View the latest timetable on the operator's website.
Onward public transport options

Please note that reduced timetables are in operation across the country, please check your options carefully before travelling.
Scottish internal flights and ferries are also restricted to essential travel only at this time.
